VINTAGE J. DELAUNAY, IN LINE G, OPEN HOLE, C FLUTE (click on pictures for larger verzion)

J. Delaunay produced his handmade, elegant, flutes in La Couture-Boussey France during the early 1900s.  This J. Delaunay is silver plated with soldered tone holes and open hole key-work. Its' foot joint is a C configuration.  The plating was very badly tarnished with some under-metal showing so I took the liberty (after a thorough de-tarnishing) of having the complete body and head-joint lightly re-silver-plated.  The key-work as well as the crown still have the original Delaunay silver-plating intact.  All the pads, corks as well as the head joint cork have been renewed and several of the damaged center post and threaded washer pad retainers have been replaced with new brass screw, washer and flange pad retainers. The flute plays throughout its range with a brilliant and romantic quality.  It is very mellow in the low register and sweetly clear at its highest range.  Thoroughly French.
