Paddy O'Brien's
mastery of the two-row button accordion is unsurpassed. From his days in County Offaly to the present, Paddy has sought out the old masters, learning melodies and preserving them for future generations. Regarded as one of the tradition's most important repositories, he has collected more than 3,000 compositions. A four time Oireachtas champion, and all-Ireland senior accordion champion, he played and recorded with the famed Castle Ceili Band and Ceoltoiri Laighean. In 1994 he received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to record and annotate 500 reels and jigs from his vast repertoire of traditional tunes. The result of that effort, The Paddy O'Brien Tune Collection: A Personal Treasury of Irish Jigs and Reels, has received accolades from players of Irish music around the world. Considered one of the great sources of music for new players, and revered by lovers of the Irish tradition, he has become an icon for many in the traditional music world.

Pat Egan
is a man blessed with a great ear for songs, and the perfect voice with which to sing them. He is a recognized force on the contemporary folk scene, performing in concerts, on radio, and TV in Europe and the United States.  Raised in Tipperary, Pat grew up singing and playing, and has been a professional musician for nearly 20 years. He served his apprenticeship with the Dublin groups Old Bawn and De Min, and has since been a member of Idle Wall, and the Mayo-based traditional group Sheeaun. His performance on the internationally acclaimed recording Music at Matt Molloy's brought his talent to much wider attention, and in 1994 he produced a highly regarded solo tape, Songs for the Candle.

Patrick Ourceau
, a fiddler of rare talent and sophistication, cut his teeth in sessions in his native Paris, but eventually was drawn to the distinctive musical dialects of Clare and East Galway. Patrick learned at the feet of Ireland's legendary traditional musicians and the outstanding community of immigrant Irish masters in New York. Armed with a unique knowledge of regional styles and an abiding respect for the traditional masters, his reputation as a teacher attracts large numbers of students. His most recent project, Live at Mona's , has been hailed by critics and fans alike. An amazing CD, it recreates an evening at what may well be the best Irish session in the United States. In Chulrua, he and Paddy O'Brien create that most lovely and satisfying of musical partnerships - fiddle and box. With the able accompaniment and carefully chosen songs of Pat Egan, this partnership is a legend in the making.
