RESERVATIONS ARE VERY STRONGLY SUGGESTED
Martin Hayes is, beyond any doubt, the finest Irish fiddler, traditional or otherwise, alive and playing today.

That should be enough to get every Traditional Irish Music fan in the tri-state area into the auditorium, but for those who have not heard (
unlikely, but possible) of him, a brief resume:

They don't come no better.

He's won every award there is for traditional fiddle,  he's been All-Ireland at LEAST six times (I think they just gave him the trophy  last time!), he's been the subject of or has appeared in at least twenty documentaries on Irish music, his dad founded and arranged the Tulla Ceili Band (the quintessential Ceili band in Ireland for MANY years), and there are just not enough superlatives around to do him and his artistry sufficient justice.

As Aly Bain is to the Shetlands, as Vassar Clements was to Bluegrass, as Bob Wills was to Texas Swing, so then is Martin Hayes to Irish Traditional fiddling:  to quote my sainted Grandmother,
"Hey, Bubba! H'it don't GIT no better than this!"

Then to top it all off, DENNIS CAHILL is his accompanist!!!
Here's an American guitarist who can match Martin for warmth, inventiveness and musicianship and the combination is simply magical in sound. They've played together for years, to the point where it sounds like they share the same mind, and it's ALL good!

Seriously:  This is a performance NOT to be missed!

EDITORIAL COMMENT:
As webmaster, I get to put the pages up for Frank Dalton and the CTIMS for the various performers and events
they put on, and as an Irish musician, I simply could not be more thrilled to make and publish this particular page,
especially since I threw away Frank's review and copy and made up my own!
