Claire Keville - concertina
Claire Keville is from Claran, County Galway. Her family’s music was strong on both sides – a grandfather played the whistle and a grandmother played the melodeon.  She has fond memories of listening to the music of fluter Paddy Carty and concertina player Fr. Charlie Coen. Fr. Charlie was probably the first concertina player she heard and she was immediately drawn to his gentle style of playing. She has always been drawn to the music and repertoire of East Galway.  Claire has completed a postgraduate MA in Ethnomusicology at the University of Limerick. Her thesis centered on the classic 1960 vinyl recording of Paddy Canny, P.J. Hayes, Peter O’Loughlin and Bridie Lafferty – a stylish and historic recording that has influenced many great musicians.  She recently released a CD entitled “An Trí is a Rian” which was launched in July 2004 at the Willie Clancy Summer School.  In addition to hosting a traditional music program (Music in the Glen) on Ireland’s Clare-FM, Claire works as a teacher and gives workshops in Irish traditional music.

Pat O'Connor - fiddle
Pat O'Connor is a fiddle player from East Clare whose music has the moderate pace and easy flow associated with that region.  Fans of traditional music may have run across Pat's first solo CD "The Green Mountain," featuring the musician's unhurried (yet lovely in its simplicity and genuineness) brand of fiddle playing. His second CD release, “The Humours of Derrybeha”, is very much in the same vein, consisting mostly of solo tracks and a couple of lovely duets with concertina and flute.  To hear Pat’s playing of the air "Maro ma Maestrez" (My Love Is Dead) is to experience the lonesome touch.
