a song from Pat Egan
Billy McComiskey, a highly regarded player/composer of Irish
traditional music, is a Brooklyn native who picked up the button
accordion at age 6. At 15 he was taken under the wing of the legendary
Sean McGlynn. He is a master of the East Galway style that characterizes
the playing of many of New York's best Irish accordionists. His compositional
skills & 1986 All-Ireland championship attest to his mastery of the button
accordion.

Laura Byrne began playing the flute at age 9 & in the mid-90s started
playing Irish music. In 1999, she won the U.S. Eastern Fleadh Championship.
Laura has taught at the Swannanoa Gathering in Asheville, NC, & the
Catskills Irish Arts Week in East Durham, NY, & performed at festivals
across the USA & Ireland.

Donna Long was born in Los Angeles. When she was five she began
taking piano lessons with her father, Byron Long, a jazz/classical pianist.
In 1978, she moved to the Baltimore/Washington, DC area and heard fiddler
Brendan Mulvihill playing Irish music. He inspired her to pick up the fiddle
and gave her a solid foundation in style and playing. She began to accompany
him on the piano and is now considered one of the finest pianists playing Irish music.

Pat Egan's guitar style is unique in that he is one of the few guitarists in Irish music who adhere to standard tuning as opposed to the ubiquitous DADGAD. His approach will be of great interest to the overwhelming body of guitarists, as well as those familiar with alternate tunings. His exciting rhythmic drive on the right hand will open new doors for aspiring guitarists as well as more advanced players.
