John Farmer (c.1560- ?) English composer and organist of Holy Trinity (now Christ Church) Cathedral, Dublin, between c.1595 and c.1599, but otherwise lived in London. His madrigals of 1599 are unassuming but attractive, and he supplied many competent 4-part psalm settings for East's and Ravenscroft's psalters, and instrumental music for anthologies by Simpson and Rosseter. He contributed a madrigal, "Fair nymphs I heard one telling", to The Triumphs of Oriana. excerpted from: (http://www.hoasm.org/IVM/Englandthru1635.html) My thanks to Chris Whent for his outstanding site and pages of information which I absolutely recommend to the reader, as well as for his radio programme, likewise recommended.
