Thomas Vautor (1579? - 1620?) Best know as a successor to Gibbons, Dowland, et.al. in the "anonymous Harmonious" school of composition, he nevertheless produced one stellar madrigal (or at leat one has survived of his works), "The Suffolk Owl". Most references I find place him inservice to Leicester Cathedral in the 1612-1619 period and he drops precipitously from sight in 1620. One assumes he died in one of the plague revivals. Anyone with more information is encouraged to email me and enlighten my ass.
